Colin Cowherd’s hot takes and rants have kept him at the center of attention in sports media for the last decade. Known for his bashing of Russell Westbrook and Baker Mayfield, Cowherd has kept himself in the top of media headlines for his takes at Fox Sports. This has of course led to some hilarious takes as time passes, and looking back at Cowherd’s old segments will cause you to scratch your head and wonder what he was on when he said these things. Here are the top five times Colin Cowherd has provided a real head scratching take or comment on air.
5. Ben Simmons is a top five player in the NBA and is more fun to watch than LeBron James
Cowherd was huge on Ben Simmons and led the hype train. While this has not aged as badly as the other ones on this list, Simmons has not developed on offense in the way Cowherd and others have hoped, and while he is still an all star in the league, he has a long way to go before he is a top five player. He needs to be able to hit a mid range shot at a consistent rate before being compared to LeBron.

There were a lot of doubts that Dak Prescott could be a successful quarterback in 2016. It shows the odds Dak has overcome and how impressive his play has been. However, the statement that Dak would not even be able to play quarterback and would be bad even if he switched positions is borderline insulting to Dak at this point in his career.
3. Would take Carson Wentz over Aaron Rodgers
Over the 2020 offseason, Colin Cowherd went on a segment naming the QBs he would take Carson Wentz over, and Aaron Rodgers made the list of people he would pass on for Wentz. Considering Wentz got benched mid season and traded out of Philly where Rodgers is fresh off another MVP award, I think this one speaks for itself.
2. He did not like Vince Young in college because he reminded him of Tim Tebow
Colin Cowherd tells us that he did not like Vince Young coming out of Texas, because Young's throwing motion reminded him of Tim Tebow. One small problem: Tim Tebow was still in high school when Young was drafted.

In a complete mess up of chronological order of events, Cowherd said he did not like Vince Young because of his resemblance to Tebow, who was in high school at the time and would most definitely not be used as reference. About a 5-10 year discrepancy here. Not sure how nobody fact checked that one.
1. Says that Golden State would never sign KD or win titles with KD
Out of all the cold takes on the Herd, this has got to take the cake for the most freezing. In Cowherd’s worst take, he calls the 2016 free agency rumors of Durant signing to KD not likely to happen and if it were to happen, their chemistry would be terrible with Klay Thompson playing third fiddle. I think their two championship rings say different, Colin.
